Shotcreting or guniting
Shotcrete or gunite is used to reinforce soil nailed facing and/or fractured rock masses in slopes. Shotcrete consists of a wet or dry mix mortar and/or aggregate blown by compressed air directly onto a soil nailed slope or rock face or other surface. The force of impact resulting from the compressed air compacts the mortar in place, bonding it to the slope or rock at the face. Shotcrete is usually a reinforcing rather than a supporting agent and is therefore often used together with soil nail or rock bolts. Addition of fine wire fiber to the mixture will significantly increase the tensile strength of the mortar mix.
Based on Zeox experienced, to attain the maximum effectiveness of anchor, the depth of anchors shall be kept to a maximum depth of 50m. The carry working loads of anchors can reach 200 tons. When the application of the anchor is for permanent use, the tendon or rebar are protected with anticorrosion systems. In both temporary and permanent retaining applications, both rock and soil anchors have proven to be a viable and cost-effective solution to conventional cantilever retaining walls provided it is designed and constructed in accordance with proper code of practice. Loop type anchor (i.e. that can be withdraw/remove) is used when the anchoring works is meant for temporary usage.
